Mozilla has announced an updated OpenID equivalent

On Habré several times already published news about the OpenID analogue from Mozilla, which was called BrowserID. The project is quite interesting, and now the Mozilla team is actively working to improve and develop it. The other day the team presented an updated draft. In fact, the Mozilla developers created a new service based on BrowserID, naming it Persona. This service allows the user to be identified on any site (where such technology is supported, of course). The main identifier is the user's email address.

Here are some improvements that were added by the developers:
')
- a new (according to the developers, much better than before) API;
- improvement of the identification system;
- improvement of system and user interaction;
- change of name (this, in principle, could not specify).

In addition, many minor improvements and additions were made, which, according to the developers, made the service even better and more reliable. It should be noted that Persona is an open source project, to work on which third-party developers are involved. Mozilla management hopes that Persona will develop autonomously, thanks to the community of developers who are starting to join the project more and more actively.

Unfortunately, now this technology is not supported by such a large number of sites. Probably the most famous resource of this kind is The Times website. In order to use the opportunities of Persona, you need to register at the persona.org resource and follow the instructions. After performing a couple of simple actions, the user receives a confirmation to his email.
