Google maps go under water

Street View in Google Maps has reached new depths - the company has published the first underwater areas, panoramas of which can be viewed on maps.

Google's partner in creating underwater maps was the study of The Catlin Seaview Survey (a series of scientific expeditions to study the oceans), which used a specially designed underwater camera Seaview SVII, now existing in only two copies. She can shoot a 360-degree panorama every three seconds and determine her coordinates and shooting direction.

Now Google offers 6 locations - in the Philippines, Hawaii and Australia. Given that the oceans occupy 2/3 of the Earth's surface, Google has a lot of work ahead.
