Apple invites former Google Maps employees to work

The fact that Apple’s map service turned out to be, to put it mildly, not very successful, isn’t just lazy. The other day on Habré there was news that more than 7 thousand people work on the Google Maps service. Some of them are full-time employees, and some are contract servicemen. So, today Techcrunch has published an interesting news: it seems that Apple is poaching those Googe Maps employees whose contracts have already expired.

At the same time, according to rumors, Apple offers such employees the opportunity to participate in the creation of a new product, service, and not to work on the “boring updates” of an already finished platform.

The source of information from Techcrunch is the “contract soldier”, who previously worked for the Google Maps service, and is now in “free navigation”. This man worked to improve the cartographic material for Europe, and also participated in the creation of the navigation service. According to this man, many of his colleagues have long been looking for an opportunity to take part in a more interesting project, and Apple is now actively taking advantage of this situation.

And now some of the “anonymous” colleagues switched to Apple to work on the company's map service (as you can already understand, this service from Apple is as raw as possible, so you have to work, essentially, from scratch).

Among other things, Apple places ads for free vacancies to work with map services. ( link ).

According to the source Techcrunch, Apple has all the chances to make a cartographic platform competitive to other services like this. Well, and whether this is true or not, time will tell.
