The Japanese have developed a new type of fuel hydrogen cells
A research team in which experts from three organizations (Rohm, Aquafairy Corp., Kyoto University) participate, developed a lightweight and practical fuel hydrogen cell. These items can be used to charge smartphones and other portable devices. Compared with other fuel cells and batteries, the new invention has several advantages.
According to the developers, this fuel cell is more efficient than standard batteries, less overall, and more reliable. And yes, it is also not very expensive. Calcium hydride plates are used in this fuel cell. When an element is filled with water, this material reacts with water, as a result of which electricity is generated. One plate measuring 38 * 38 * 2mm is capable of producing about 4.5 liters of hydrogen. ')
The advantage of this element is also the fact that the differential operating temperature can be quite high. Development can be useful where ordinary batteries, batteries, can not be used (for the simple reason that they have nothing to recharge). And yes, these batteries can be attributed to completely harmless, no materials harmful to the environment are used, and nothing is harmful during the reaction with water.
It is also very interesting that such an element, being packed in plastic, can also be used 20 years after production.
These fuel cells will be put into production next year, which is a big plus. Usually, such developments are either a pure concept, or they are planned to be produced in almost 50 years. And the batteries based on calcium hydride, we hope, we will see next year.
