If I were Google, I would release Maps for iOS 6 in six months

So, iOS 6 is already among us , and sales of the new iPhone will begin this week. So soon (maybe) people will realize that the new Maps in iOS no longer work for Google. And that they are monstrous.

I won’t go into hundreds of technical details, why it happened, but let me say that when people get used to normal work for five years and then they are deprived of it, they usually get angry or upset. I bet that all this will happen to the Card users.

Apple decided to make its own application and stop working with Google, which has a great world-class mapping product. It's cool, and Apple itself has the right to decide. However, if you think about users, the solution seems strange. Of course, you can do a lot with your location data, and Apple wants to own it. All right, good. But the “best-in-class experience” that Apple is so proud of is simply missing from the new Maps.

And if I were Google, I would not release the app with Maps on iOS 6 for at least six months, and here's why.

In Moscow, for example, new maps know Gorky Street ...

Let users know what really bad cards are and let them finally get mad at Apple. Let Apple explain why the Maps application is not yet up to date and how much time and talent is needed to do something truly wonderful. Let users ask Apple why the application that they used for five years has been completely removed.

And only then ... a few months later, let Google come on the scene and save the situation with a stunning and excellent native Maps application for iOS 6. Will Apple allow it then, or again refer to the "basic functionality detector"?

This is what I do, be Google. But I'm not him. Apple - you really should not joke with things that work. I hope that the next version of Maps in iOS 6 will be great. Otherwise, switch to Google. Until then, you can use the mobile version in Safari.

UPD: Google commented on the situation so ambiguously:

We believe that Google Maps is the most complete, accurate, and easy-to-use map in the world. Our goal is to make Google Maps accessible to anyone who wants to use them, regardless of device, browser or operating system.
