The Skolkovo Foundation conducts the selection of the best concept of a mobile diagnostic device Skolkovo MD, designed for self-assessment of the health of the average user. The winner of the selection will receive a cash prize of up to 9 million rubles and continue to work on his device in the status of a project participating in the Skolkovo Foundation.
To win in the selection of candidates must prove and show that their device is useful, unique and functional, and can also be implemented in the near future. Mobile diagnostic device (MDU) should be a fundamentally new device for self-diagnosis, which anyone can use. The MDU should be user friendly and compact (weighing up to 1.5 kilograms).
The range of diagnostic tests conducted by the device should be quite wide: in addition to determining traditional indicators (such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate and respiration), the MRL should diagnose a number of serious clinical conditions: from urinary tract infections to anemia to diabetes. The main expert functions of the device must be implemented in a remote database. To make a decision that a person may have a deviation in the state of health, it is necessary to analyze the data received by the device, upload them to the “cloud”, which will already give recommendations, for example, to urgently visit the doctor. The data can be stored in the “cloud” of hundreds of thousands of users, therefore, the diagnostic capabilities of the MRL platform will constantly expand with an increase in the number of users regularly checking their health.

More than 50 teams from the cities of Russia, Belarus, Germany and Switzerland take part in the selection. The teams included 9 active Academicians (RAS, RAMS, RANS and other academies), 28 Doctors of Sciences and 41 Candidates of Sciences. This is a tremendous potential that we managed to collect for solving an extremely important task for the whole world.
The winner, whose name will be announced on December 12, 2012, will have the opportunity to complete work on creating a mobile diagnostic device with the financial support of the Skolkovo Foundation.
