On November 8, at the Radisson SAS Slavyanskaya Hotel in Moscow, the first
User Experience Russia conference will open, dedicated to the still unusual and usable topic of electronic usability. The date was not chosen by chance: for the third year in a row, the
Association of Usability Professionals (UPA) celebrates
World Usability Day , which by its very existence is intended to bring to society the knowledge of the “need to simplify access and improve the ease of use of products and services of particular importance to humanity ". This year, the emphasis is on health care.
In two days that the conference will go, prominent world experts in the field of design and ergonomics will speak at it, who will make several presentations on general topics of methodology and usability design features, as well as consider particular issues of creating interfaces for people with disabilities, for mobile devices and intranet systems, as well as cross-cultural perception of technology. The event is being organized by
UsabilityLab and the
edu-itonline training center under the auspices of the
UN ,
UNESCO and the
Ministry of Communications of Russia . Habrahabr acts as an information sponsor.
On the
first day of the conference, the reports of foreign experts will be in the spotlight.
Maria Stone of Google will talk about the company's goals in the field of usability.
Eric Schaffer , founder and head of
Human Factors International, will talk about the experience of his company, which is rightfully considered one of the world leaders in the industry. His colleague
Apala Chavan will touch on the problems of adapting interfaces to the cultural characteristics of the user.
Susan Fowler , founder of
FAST Consulting and author of several classic works on GUI design, will address the transparency of government websites.
Shailesh Manga from New Zealand-based
Optimal Usability will talk about his vision of how to create world-class intranet interfaces.
Victor Stenwick , a UI designer from IBM, will hold on November 10, together with Mrs. Fowler, an author's seminar on how to circumvent the most narrow and expensive places in the process of designing web applications.
The second day will include a round table "Efficiency of interaction between the state and society through the Internet", conducted by the
Union of Webmasters of Russia , as well as reports and master classes of public experts. At the conclusion of the conference, foreign guests will hold
separate seminars for professionals, at which strategies for developing interfaces of specific applications, such as search engines, as well as general issues, such as accepting attention to usability as a common practice in the life of an enterprise, will be considered in all its subtleties.
