Today at the conference devoted to technology Web 2.0 (
Web 2.0 Summit / October 17-19, 2007),
MySpace cooperation agreement (over 110 million active users) and
Skype (220 million registered users) was announced.
According to the statement, in November, MySpaceIM (instant messaging software) users will have the opportunity, without downloading additional software, to communicate via Skype’s IP telephony network with other MySpace users.
In a blog, Tim O'Reilly (Tim O`Reilly) focused on the unfolding struggle for social networks and the prospects for the development of Web 2.0.

“I am sure that the first and far from the last similar MySpace statement was made at the conference. As for social networks, MySpace will not yield Facebook leadership without a real fight. And this is interesting! When companies are in tough competition, we all benefit, the development of technology is only accelerating. ”
Tim O'Reilly argues that building a strong bridge between those applications that are “in the know” of our social connections and social networks is inevitable.
As a result, according to the Internet gurus, social networks will turn into a kind of smart address book application that collects information about all of our contacts. Social network systems will urgently need to integrate with those applications that, one way or another, relate to our social connections. Many niches in the field of contact management will open.
