Boston Dynamics LS3 - BigDog Big Brother

The company Boston Dynamics has posted on Youtube a new video of the field tests of the heavy robot LS3 (Legged Squad Support System), also known as AlphaDog. The robot became more confident on his feet and acquired a round “belly” that allows him to easily get up from any position. In addition, it works 10 times quieter than the early prototype , and 20 times quieter than the BigDog.

LS3 can carry 180 kilograms of cargo for a distance of up to 32 kilometers at a single gas station and can travel through almost any terrain. On a flat road, he runs at a speed of more than 11 km / h. He can follow the route using GPS, or automatically follow a person - he is equipped with a computer vision system. In addition to Boston Dynamics, organizations such as Carnegie Mellon University, Bell Helicopter Textron, and the NASA jet propulsion laboratory took part in its development.

Developers' plans for the future - to bring the speed of LS3 to 16 km / h and teach him to understand voice commands so that they can be controlled without any special devices. For remote control, the usual army radio, which every soldier has, will suffice.
