Dell Alienware M17x Notebook Review

Externally, the novelty has not changed in comparison with the previous generation. All the same alien design. Build quality pleases. The hull is felt as one; Plastic has a soft-touch matte finish, and much of the laptop is 'sheathed' with aluminum. You can choose between the red and black colors of the case. The display mounts reliably perform their functions, ensuring the maximum angle of opening of the laptop is about 135 degrees and eliminating the need for latches. It is worth noting the AlienFX backlight system - you can choose one of 20 colors with which the keyboard, case and logos will be illuminated while working with a laptop. At the same time, you can choose different colors for all elements to create your own backlight design.

The M17x is equipped with a 17-inch glossy display with a resolution of Full HD (16: 9, 1920 x 1080 pixels). You can choose from a modification of the display with support for 3D (glasses included). Screen Alienware M17x is suitable for any usage scenarios, including professional image editing.



Laptop keyboard
The keys can boast a great depth of movement and a soft but sufficient return. This is convenient not only in games, but also when typing. The keyboard is highlighted, with any of the selected users color.



Above the keyboard there are several function buttons for controlling the player, turning on and off Wi-Fi, and ejecting an optical disc.



The touchpad M17x has a large area and smooth to work surface. The small plastic bezel of the touch panel glows, so it is easy to find in the dark.

Alienware offers the user quad-core processors Ivy Bridge (22 nm process technology). You can choose from Core i7-3610QM, i7-3720QM and i7-3820QM. Alternatives exist when choosing a video adapter. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M, GTX 675M, GTX 680M and AMD Radeon HD 7970M are available. The maximum amount of RAM is 32 GB DDR3 1600 MHz. The laptop has 2 slots for installing drives (both hard disk and SSD). Installation of 2 drives at the same time with a total volume of up to 2 TB is supported.

Even considering the fact that the Alienware M17x is a high-end notebook, it is easy to recognize that it is equipped with one of the best sets of ports and connectors.

An Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 adapter, featuring Bluetooth 4.0 support, and Wi-Fi b / g / n are responsible for wireless communication.



The built-in Klipsch speaker system sounds loud, the sound quality is not bad for me, although I'm not a connoisseur.

Of course, a good and pleasant thing, only once again sighed and thought: and why should good things necessarily cost dearly? The question is rhetorical.
