In Ubisoft decided to abandon the protection of games that require a permanent connection to the Internet
The director of the online games division of Ubisoft (series) Stephanie Perlotti (Stephanie Perlotti) of an extensive interview with the game edition rockpapershotgun.com reported that her company decided to abandon the questionable practice of protecting games, which required a constant network connection to run the game; at the same time, there will be no restrictions either on the number of installations or on the number of computers on which the game can be installed.
The only requirement from the publisher of such hits as Assassin's Creed and Far Cry 2 will be that the game will have to be activated once on the Ubisoft servers, after which it will be considered legitimate and will not require any more manipulations to launch it.
This decision was caused, first of all, by negative reviews from gamers who complained that the game was interrupted in case of loss of the Internet connection, the preservation was lost, and other inconveniences of various kinds arose. Interestingly, it was taken back in June last year and only now has taken real practical implementation. At the same time, of course, says Perlotti, that if a player decides to play the game in multiplayer mode or use game services, he will definitely need to connect to the network. ')
