Announced hybrid smartphone reader with e-ink

For many years I have been reading books, mainly from the display of the phone. At the beginning it was a small display for siemens m55 (a good one, by the way, it was a telephone). Then, with the advent of devices with a large display, it became increasingly convenient to read. Somehow I didn’t work with e-ink readers, despite the fact that my wife cannot rejoice at her Pocketbook. Nevertheless, reading on a smartphone has a big drawback: the battery on a smartphone is very quickly discharged (especially if the display is large). E Ink Corporation offers a very interesting solution to the problem: a hybrid smartphone with two displays.

The first display of such a device is quite normal. And the second, on the back of the case - this is e-ink. This solution allows you to go on reading from e-ink for a couple of seconds, and at the same time the phone battery is almost not discharged. Perhaps, this solution may seem to many not quite convenient - after all, you have to take care of the safety of not just one, but two displays at once (putting such a phone will need to be very careful).

So far, the project exists only in the concept state. However, representatives of the company E Ink claim that at least one mobile device manufacturer became interested in the idea and is going to launch it into work. The company believes that conventional displays are great for viewing multimedia files or working on the Web, but the e-ink screen is still optimal for text.

And because the developers are right - and the eyes will be less tired, and energy is saved. It would be nice if the developers still made a protective screen that closes the currently unused e-ink screen. After all, such a display is quite fragile (although there are already working projects for flexible e-ink displays, so maybe everything is not so bad). Manufacturers are going to cover e-ink with plastic, but still this is not a 100% solution to the problem of a falling mobile device.
