MIMB - Multi-installation and multi-boot flash drive

Hi, Habrachiteli!

In everyday practice, a set of tools is often needed - Linux and sometimes the Windows LiveCD, as well as installation disks of various distributions. Discs are easily subject to mechanical damage. Given that the set of tools used and the distributions each is not so large (in order to avoid the divorce of the zoo) and often quite fit on a USB-drive to 4G, it is advisable to put everything on one flash drive.
To your attention the flash drive to download Live builds of Linux and Windows and install Linux distributions. An .img image has been prepared that is easily deployed using dd. Who cares, the details under the cut.

Using

There are only three options for using MIMB (Multi-Install and Multi-Boot USB):
1. Use a prepared image that easily rolls onto a flash drive using dd. The only thing that needs to be changed is the UUID of its flash drive in the menu files. Implemented by one team .
Advantage of the approach : it requires minimal effort and squats with loading distributions that are not included in the prepared image.
Disadvantage: will have to use the one that is.
Documentation for this option.
2. Roll the prepared image with dd, and then delete the unnecessary and, if necessary, add something of your own.
3. Create your MIMB from scratch on the manual .

Features

Pleasant moments in using MIMB:
- the ability to use a flash drive for other purposes besides download / install, i.e. to store / share files. It is not necessary to have a separate flash drive for MIMB;
- the ability to easily add additional Linux and Windows ISO images for download by analogy with existing ones;
- the addition of most ISO images does not require unpacking;
- the ability to remove unnecessary ISO images to work, thereby saving free disk space.

Grub4Dos is used as a bootloader. Why not the usual Grub? Because he does not know how to load Live Windows distributions. At least I did not succeed.
FAT32 is used as a file system. Why not NTFS? Because installers of some distributions cannot mount an NTFS partition.

Conclusion

I would be happy to comment on the article and on the site. Write your wishes to add distributions to the boot menu. This will help make the prepared image more versatile. If something does not go there, if possible, I will post manuals on the blog.
