The fact that Intel has been developing wireless chargers has long been known. Back in 2008, an interesting device from Intel was demonstrated that charged mobile devices at a distance. But they were more conceptual projects, not commercial ones. Now the corporation, together with its partner, the company IDT (Integrated Device Technology), is working on a commercial project. The goal is to save the owners of mobile devices from wired chargers (it's time to go, right?).
According to the developers, the system will allow you to charge your smartphone, which will simply lie next to a laptop. It is clear that the transfer of energy in this case will not be as effective as in the case of wired charging. But it is convenient and practical. Probably, now very few of the owners of mobile devices are worried about any losses there during the wireless transmission of energy.

Most likely, a preliminary version of such a device will be ready by 2013. This is already quite near future. By the way, the developers are planning to release a universal wireless system that can work not only in a pair of “laptop - smartphone”, but also in a pair of “ultrabook - smartphone”, “smartphone - smartphone”, and also in the form of a discrete charger.
Actually, it would be nice if such systems appeared. Remember how recently for each of the devices of a particular manufacturer, it was necessary to have its own charger? It's easier now, but wireless charging would be almost a 100% cure.
