Mini ice cream stick machine # 1
It happens, it bothers to drill dozens of tiny holes in the manufacture of a printed circuit board ... I do not know what came over me, but I decided to make an automatic drilling machine. In this article I will describe the beginning of my journey in this matter.
I don’t know how it all began ... I didn’t study any such problems, machine mechanics and so on, just by drawing different sketches, I suddenly discovered that it could work. The material, as it may seem obvious from the name of the topic, caught my arm very exotic. But not from the same sticks to do a machine with a difficult mechanics? True, I also used my favorite material - polycaprolactone - a sort of low-melting plastic. I will not advertise this material, I have already done this in my last article .
So, in front of me was plastic and wooden sticks, where did I start? .. my main problem is that I do everything without clear blueprints, I see a device in my head - I do, if something goes wrong, then I solve problems as they are received. So I immediately started with a plastic frame.

Unfortunately I didn’t take intermediate photos) ... so right off the bat:
The photo already shows 2 cheap stepper motors that have been idle for a long time. A significant minus of these motors only in their speed ... slowly while we drill, later I will find good engines.
So, a couple more photos and try to explain how it works.
Let us understand the example of movement along one axis. Immediately I warn you that I draw and explain as badly as I do everything else.
colored strings are a fishing line, an inextensible thread, etc.
So if we need to move backwards, then just turn the engine clockwise, but how then to move forward?
Nothing complicated, just green and purple threads are initially twisted clockwise and when the motor is torsion counterclockwise, they will move the stick and, accordingly, the “head” forward. Just exactly and left-right on the other little engine.
That's all. Next time I will tell (unless of course this article is even slightly interested), how I will raise and lower the mini-drill, how I will connect all this with the computer, and what program I will write for convenient work.
