Valve continues to collaborate with Intel in support of OpenGL for Linux, now Left 4 Dead 2 works on Mesa.
Eric Enholt (Intel's Open-Source Technology Center) speaks very warmly about cooperation with experts from Valve:

- This is amazing! Working with Valve is great. We have never reached such a complete understanding with any game publisher. Valve makes games that people really want to play.
Back in July, it became known that Intel and Valve are working together to create a driver (open source), which will ensure the normal operation of the Source engine on Linux. The development team from the Center for Open Technology Intel went to the headquarters of Valve, where she continued to work together with Linux-specialists Valve, bringing a lot of benefit.

Valve gave the guys from Intel full access to the source code of the game, including the engine. This allowed Linux developers from Intel to detect possible optimizations and, in fact, to ensure maximum stability and performance of Source games.
