Today, probably, the word Aport will not say anything to the younger generation of Internet users, but then, in the late 90s and early zero, the phrase “I will look for an essay on the aport” sounded much more often than the modern “google”.

Aport.ru abandoned its search engine on August 22, 2011, going entirely to Yandex search.

From the beginning of zero, the search engine was sold more than once - in 2000 it became part of the telecommunications holding company Golden Telecom. In 2008, VimpelCom bought one hundred percent of the shares of Golden Telecom.

Evolution is evolutionary, but it's a shame - because the technology of this search engine was created and improved for a decade, and now it has become useless to anyone and thrown into the dustbin of history.

Interesting numbers:

• In 2000, the value of the assets of an aport was estimated at $ 25 million, in 2012, Andrei Bronetsky (CEO of Mamba.ru) bought it for only 150 thousand
• In 2005, up to 25 million people visited the resource daily, but now attendance has dropped to 6,000

We note the fact that the website ceased to exist only in the usual sense, as a search engine. The current owner wants to turn it into an aggregator of goods and services, like price.ru, and bring it to profit by the fall of 2013.
