OpenFlow Autumn School at MSU
Admin network? Follow new technologies? Have a desire to work with the latest switches? Every September pulls back to the university? Well, I have great news.
The Center for Applied Research of Computer Networks, together with the Open Networking Laboratory (Stanford University, The University of California, Berkeley) and the faculty of the VMK MSU, organizes the Program Configurable Network School. All this for free, first-hand and with practical training. There is only one catch - only thirty people will take the course.

One of the hottest solutions for today is the SDN / PKS-technology based on the OpenFlow protocol, which allows you to get away from the "manual" network management. The technology has attracted the attention of such IT giants as Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Verizon, Yahoo !, Cisco, HP, IBM and a number of others who are already developing this topic today. Russia at the very initial stages is included in the study of technology with the prospect that its results will become the basis for the creation in Russia of its own production of network equipment. Russia has every chance of becoming one of the world leaders in computer network management, but we need specialists. The school “Software-Configurable Networks” will acquaint participants with innovative PC-based computer networking technologies.
Training format:
Practical exercises will be focused on practicing skills in installing virtual machines, using basic PCB tools and debugging tools; creating and installing Open Source applications on OpenFlow controllers, learning the basics of using FlowVisor and slicing networks, creating a PKS network segment.
The first new generation network in Russia has already been built on the basis of the Center. Yes, you can work with it and find with your own hands all the strengths and weaknesses. The new switching architecture allows you to conduct any experiments in various areas of network technologies, to develop network applications, OpenFlow creates a single language of communication with equipment from different manufacturers. In practice it will not be boring in practice. Practical classes are conducted on OpenFlow NEC and HP switches, POX controllers with the implementation of API for PKS-applications in the Python language.
The course of study lasts only four days and will begin on September 18, training is free. The course will be conducted by three teachers:

The competitive selection procedure for the School:
- Acceptance of questionnaires until September 10 (inclusive).
- Selection of applicants - September 11-12. At the first two stages, applicants may be asked for additional information by phone or email.
- Announcement of lists of participants of the School - September 12th. Results will be communicated to each participant personally.
