PlayUp: a new line of speakers for Nokia Lumia from JBL

Hi, Habr!

Today we are pleased to present a new accessory for our smartphones - a portable wireless speaker JBL PlayUp Portable Wireless Speaker. The appearance of this speaker marks the beginning of our partnership with the company JBL, recognized by the American manufacturer of acoustic audio equipment.

Externally, the JBL PlayUp accessory resembles the Nokia Play 360 ° column already being sold, and this is very good, because Play 360 ° won the 2012 authoritative international Red dot Design Awards in the Product Design category. JBL PlayUp has the same colorful cylindrical design with a still upward speaker providing sound propagation in all directions. The new column also has NFC for easy connectivity. On the other hand, in JBL PlayUp, the control buttons are located on the top, not on the side, as in Play 360 °, and the device itself is made of plastic, made using double-jet injection molding technology, which provides the device with greater strength.

But the "insides" of the column are completely different from the Play 360 °, because now the engineers at JBL have worked on them. The column uses three 1.75-inch drivers that can play all ranges of sounds. For better bass sound, a separate phase inverter is used - perhaps, this is the best bass portable speaker on the market. The result is a column with the following characteristics:

PlayUp portable speakers are specifically designed to be compatible with current and future accessories for Lumia smartphones. Actually, for the upcoming Lumia smartphones on Windows Phone 8, the NFC module was included in this column, which connects the smartphone to the column. The very same music is transmitted via Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR. The column can be controlled directly from the smartphone, the benefit of the JBL PlayUp is support for Audio / Video Remote Control Profile 1.4.

For devices without Bluetooth support, you can always use a cable with standard 3.5 mm jacks. It is noteworthy that he is hiding right under the bottom cover of the JBL PlayUp, where the Nokia Battery BL-5J 1320mAh lithium-ion battery is located - an interesting and practical solution. The battery life is approximately 10 hours.

The dimensions of the column are 118x118 x128 mm, and the weight is 730 g. JBL PlayUp will come out in blue, white, black and bright yellow - everything, as in the picture before it. But in what colors the accessory will appear in Russia - is still unknown.

Deliveries of JBL PlayUp Portable Wireless Speaker for Nokia will begin this year. Estimated cost: € 149.
