Black Isle Studios revived

image So, the legendary studio Black Isle, which finished its history in 2003, has the opportunity to reassert itself. The company Interplay announced that it is reviving the studio for creating AAA games using new features not available to developers a decade ago. Interplay boss Erv Kein said the studio will create games based on Interplay intellectual property. In the past, Black Isle Studios has developed such iconic games as Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate and Fallout (Fallout rights belong to Bethesda). The company also plans to transfer some games to mobile platforms.

But in the camp of the old guard of the Black Isle, no one knows anything. A colony of islanders on the Obsidian Entertainment volcano is not yet aware of what this is about. Chris Avellone, Fergus Urquhart and Tim Kane said they were not related to the Interplay initiative. Brian Fargo, the former head of Interplay, said he did not have enough information for any comment. Colin McComb is also surprised . These guys are still busy developing Wasteland 2 and have not received any proposals from Interplay.
From another colony of islanders, Bioware, so far, too, no comments have been received.
Thus, there are doubts about what they will do in the new studio, from which only the name remains. Could it be that fans of games will get terrible browsers (which Erv Kein mentioned) under the name of old hits? Although if you are porting all the games on mobile platforms, you can already say thanks.
