Gmail, accelerating growth: 6 gigabytes in 2008

In the coming days, free disk space available to Gmail users will grow significantly. On October 23, users will receive 4321 MB, then growth will slow down until January 4, 2008, when it reaches 6283 MB. From January 4, the available space will increase by 3.3 MB daily, which is 10 times the current growth rate.
Another good news is that Google Apps email accounts will get the same quotas as standard Gmail accounts, while Google Apps Premier Edition email accounts will have 25 GB available. So far, the usual Google Apps accounts are available 2 GB, and business versions - 10 GB.

Gmail does not leave a pay policy for the site, but users will receive about 50% more space for the same price: 10 GB for $ 20 per year, 40 GB for $ 75 per year, 150 GB for $ 250 per year and 400 GB for $ 500 per year. Paid space may become more attractive when Google adds more services to Gmail, such as Google Docs, JotSpot or GDrive.

“In April 2005, we began to increase the Gmail space in the framework of the program“ Infinity + 1 ”
At the same time, we understood that we would never reach infinity, but promised to provide users with as much space as possible, ”says the official Gmail blog.

At the same time, Yahoo and Microsoft also increased their disk space (Yahoo even declared an “endless” place), which made Gmail a popular email service with the least disk space.
