Chinese Eximbank wanted to introduce mobile Internet in Ukrainian schools for educational purposes. This was reported during a meeting with the Chairman of the Ukrainian State Investment Project, Vladislav Kaskivym, Deputy General Director for Corporate Operations of the Eximbank of China, Wen Hong.
“There are many companies in our country that are able to implement such projects, and we are ready to cooperate in such initiatives,” Wen Hong said, according to
League .
It is planned that by the end of August a corresponding trilateral agreement will be signed between Gosinvestproekt, Eximbank of China and the Chinese partner of the project. And this year it is planned to start a pilot project - it should cover 500 schools and 20 thousand students. Each of them will receive a personal “electronic teacher” this fall, and each of these schools will be provided with mobile Internet. A web portal is also being created, on which multimedia interactive lessons will be posted.

If the Chinese succeed in turning such an operation, it may upset the local former state-owned monopolist of communication services — Ukrtelecom, which passed a year ago, into private hands. The company "ESU" ("daughter" of the Austrian consortium EPIC) already allegedly wants to part with its 3G-division "Trimob", because it seeks investments for the development of other areas - in particular, broadband access. And in the spring there were rumors that Ukrtelecom was afraid of issuing a 3G license to one of its competitors, and therefore began searching for the new owners of Trimob. It is worth noting that the majority of Ukrtelecom subscribers are still stationary telephone users. Well, also the fact that Trimob is the only owner of a 3G license in Ukraine so far. That, of course, is somewhat strange in 2012, and the quality of the services provided is reflected accordingly. But this situation is unlikely to continue for a long time - after the Chinese Internet in schools it will make sense to issue licenses for 4G already.
