Gnome is 15 years old!

Well, continue to celebrate birthdays?

Just yesterday, the Debian community turned 19, and today Gnome turned 15.

The GNOME project was founded in August 1997 by Miguel de Icaza and Federico Menoy Quintero as an attempt to create a completely free working environment for the Linux operating system.

At that time, the only option for an inexperienced user was KDE. But KDE was based on the Qt toolkit from Trolltech, which was then a proprietary product. In order to prevent the situation from worsening, the development of GNOME, a new free working environment based on the GTK + toolkit, was initiated.

True, now the Dwarf is no longer the same, and some distributions refuse it by default towards other environments, for example, recently in the same Debian they said that by default it will be Xfce.

But despite this, I would still like to congratulate all Dwarfs on a round date.

The bonus is the Gnome birthday celebration page from the community.
