Sberbank allocated 1.6 million rubles for prizes to mobile application developers

Greetings, gentlemen.

Today I visited CNews and came across the announcement of a new contest for programmers from Sberbank.
It seems the latest experience of using the crowdsourcing scheme gave an unexpectedly large positive result and Sberbank decided to expand interaction with users according to this scheme, at the same time financially stimulating the latter. What is in principle quite useful for such a large organization and allows you to get a lot of new ideas from specific users of their services, which would further improve the usability of services.

To the point: the other day, Sberbank raised the site specifically for the competition of mobile applications for iOS, Android, and also written in HTML5. The competition was timed to the Olympics in Sochi 2014, but it will be held this year, 2012.

The competition, as they say, will be held in 2 stages:

The winners are promised prizes from 200 thousand rubles. up to 20 thousand rubles, while participating, as far as I understand, everyone can. They accept both ready-made programs and ideas that can be graphically depicted on the editor built into the site. In this case, the participant must confirm the copyright of his work, which for me is not a completely clear point. That is, it is not enough to create an application that you personally did not have at Sberbank, you must first get copyrights for it, and only then submit it to the competition. With the ideas depicted through the built-in editor, such problems most likely will not arise.

Generally speaking, it seems to me that it is impossible to replace such contests for large companies, because without having a new idea, it is impossible to supply TK for full-time programmers, and holding a competition means that the company does not risk anything, but it is possible to get new ideas from users, and find new professionals in the state, and at the same time get a good advertisement.

I think if they take seriously the results of the competition and pay attention to what functionality active users want, this will give a good impetus to the development of their mobile applications. Yet the development of Sberbank can be seen with the naked eye, unlike other state-owned enterprises such as PR, and with new ideas they can overtake less agile competitors.
