Made by (crooked) hands

In the ninety-fourth year, I purchased my first pair of Italian shoes. The shoes were refreshingly expensive - two hundred and seventy dollars. They radiated quality, warmth, joy, and much more that the object of justified adoration can radiate. I felt a smart, precise, loving eye and the hand of a master in everything. On the box was a leather snag: " done by hand ." Nothing special, indirect evidence that money is paid in vain. But it became a symbol of quality in my, then still just emerging, system of values. It doesn’t matter if the thing is done in the factory, or on the workbench behind the house of the village craftsman, it doesn’t even matter whether human hands were touched directly to it. " Made by hands " I translate as " thought out by the head ."

A lot of things deserve that snag. And a deafening amount - do not deserve! But the original presentation of the Italian marketers did not become the industry standard. We have to decide. On the spot, or (much worse) - after months of use, full of frustration and annoyance.

Japanese scientists have invented an original way of consumer reaction. This way is somewhat partisan, but rather witty and pretty. An analog gadget is a miniature cassette dispenser with two types of stickers: “ made with hands ” and “ made with curved hands ”. Stickers are served when you press the buttons on the edges of the dispenser, with a distinctive click. Button marking is a red (or blue) dot in the center that appears when first used. From now on, the reaction can be left directly at the object of evaluation.

The “code of use” of the gadget and the pictures from the promotional booklet are in my blog .
