What is the difference between fastening the cooler on the LGA775 socket from the fastening at 1155/1156? Yes, almost nothing, only the distance between the holes. And the difference in distance causes a mass of disturbance - only a few millimeters. As if the mountings were changed only so that lovers of silence or acceleration (or both of them at once) had to buy a new cooling system. But as it turned out, with the help of four cogs, eight nuts, four metal and four plastic washers, you can put the old radiator on a new mother.
What kind of coolers such a trick will pass? With all that are equipped with Intel-snap pins. That turn / insert, which they stand on all standard BOX-ovsky cooling systems.
Why is this possible? Because the thickness of this “latch” is much greater than the thickness of the bolt. And the slot under the “latch” in the mounting frame is rather big and due to the fact that the screw will not be in the center but from the edge - these extra few millimeters will be recouped.

What to do? For a couple of rubles in the near construction shop we take: 4 screws of a length longer than ~ 2 cm, 4 washers, 8 nuts and 4 plastic washers. If there is no plastic, you can buy a dowel and cut it with a sliding knife. Or cut them out of anything (I cut out the transparent packaging from the mouse). Plastic washers are needed so as not to scratch the motherboard. Then we put plastic washers on the screws, pass them through the motherboard, pull out the plastic latches from the cooler and put it on the screws with the holes that have been released. From the top of the nut, tighten a little, half a turn and diagonally (that would be without skewing). When tightened evenly and firmly enough - we wrap another one over each nut, so that it will probably last for ages.
Everything. Saved half an hour of time to choose a new cooling and buying it, and about a thousand rubles. Spent 5 rubles and 10 minutes of time. The final temperature of my core i3 is 37 centigrade.
How can you do better? If there are 4 springs - after the first washer we put a spring, another washer on it and only then we tighten the nuts. It will be easier to evenly distribute the load on all 4 paws and such jeweler work on even tightening the nuts will not be needed to avoid skewing.
PS: If you tell me a more suitable hub, I will transfer it there.
