MODx Revo: TinyMCE and Table Designer

When installing the TinyMCE editor (at the time of writing the article version: 4.3.3 pl), by default it is configured in such a way that it is not possible to add table layout to the editable area. Apparently this was done for compactness and “friendliness”, so as not to frighten users with its many possibilities (I could not find another explanation).

And so, here is what needs to be done so that table editing elements appear in the TinyMCE editor in MODx Revo:

  1. Go to the system settings (" System " -> " System Setup ");
  2. Filter the parameters by the " tinymce " component;
  3. Find the parameter " tiny.custom_buttons3 " (the number at the end indicates the line of buttons on the TiniMCE panel, you can choose another similar parameter " tiny.custom_buttons N " at your discretion). Add the word " tablecontrols " to the parameter value;
  4. In order for the buttons to work, you need to connect the plugin to work with tables. To do this, in the parameter " tiny.custom_plugins " you need to add to the list of plugins - " table ".

Immediately I recommend to change the default theme to the more well-known and pleasant " o2k7 ":
  1. In a similar way, find the parameter " tiny.skin " in the parameter list and set it to " o2k7 ";
  2. To change the color scheme to " silver " specify in the parameter " tiny.skin_variant " - " silver ".

Here is a link to the official documentation, which displays a list of possible control buttons in TiniMCE and a list of its possible plug-ins.
