Since the first Sony readers, I have been following this market out of the corner of my eye. From a purchase, first a PocketBook and then a Kindle, I was dissuaded by a simple thought, a friend I think to many - it’s usually time to read in a dark room and a mobile device with a regular LCD screen won out. Until a wonderful gadget from Barnes & Noble.

I will go straight to the point. Nook is not delivered to Russia directly, so it was decided to use the shipper, so this box of true warehouse aesthetics came to me:

')
It was not easy to open it, but medical scissors and patience work wonders. What was waiting for me inside? That's right, one more package:

And so, unequivocally, Barnes & Noble hints that from e-books is close to alcoholism by offering a $ 100 voucher to the buyer of a set of 12 bottles. I’m afraid I’m going to interrupt this profit, I can give the reader from the States a free voucher if I find it.

The box is very unusual, consists of two parts, and unlike cheap Kindles (I have not seen expensive boxes), it is made with a full-color print telling us about the backlight and the availability of wi-fi.

The long-awaited moment, the lid is raised and we see the Nook in the embryo state.

I gently take it in my hand (note how carefully I trimmed my nails for this - they themselves will not stick), I feel the non-slip surface of the back wall, hidden by touch.

Holding in both hands, it is convenient to turn over the pages by pressing the convex vertical buttons located on the side of the screen.
What in the second part of the box, a cold sweat ran down my face, a secret transfer from the State Department? Coke from Mexico (after offering 12 bottles of wine would not be so surprising)? But no, it's charging and sync cable.

But, let's return from the empty, lifeless box to the device itself and compare its dimensions with the 11 "MacBook Air. It looks very compact indeed:

My joy would be incomplete if, at B & N, I would not have ordered the magnificent Kate Spade Falling Letters case.

What exactly struck me in it? First, the quality. It was made better than most of the more expensive tablet cases that I saw. Secondly, the smell. I do not know what they add there (apparently glued together like a book cover), but it smells like a book. Every time I hold in my hand I feel in the library. The cover greets me with a pretty Nook'a mockup with a welcome text.

Time does not wait, and the hero of the story takes the place of the layout. Already connected to the network and to wi-fi, he waits while I enter into him the B & N account:

In the end, I promised an exclusive, something that was not in other Russian-language reviews, demonstrations of highlighting.

As you can see, it is possible to read in the dark, and this is at almost minimum brightness.
I will answer possible questions:
1) Sync via Caliber
2) ePub
3) Russian in the books understands
4) You can buy books and magazines in B & N both on the device and on the computer, in the latter case they automatically appear on the device.
5) No, I did not do jailbreak, I did not install custom firmware.
6) I charged two weeks ago, I read the second book, I use the backlight a quarter of the time, the battery is more than half.
Intentionally I will not touch the interface, since I did not use other readers, but I like that there is nothing superfluous. Only books.
Thanks to those who have the strength to read my little review.
