At the beginning of the summer I posted my app on
Google Play and
Samsung Apps .
Samsung has a strange understanding of device compatibility and they require a separate file for each group of smartphones / tablets based on the screen resolution.')
As a result, a link to a version for Samsung Galaxy S3, for example, is one , but for Galaxy Note
completely different . Although the files themselves are identical.Back in the days of DOS, programs were written that quietly run on any screen, and then suddenly "hello," the problem. Fortunately, Google has no such strange requirements. The application itself is not designed for a wide audience (this is the riffs editor for musicians), no advertising of the application has been published.
Under the cut graphs compare the distribution of the user by country, Android versions, etc.
Number of store users
Google Play has an order of magnitude more applications than Samsung Apps. What does it affect?
For two months, my application in the Google store went to the very end of the list, and in the Samsung it is still on the second or third page in the “Music” category.

As a result, samsung users may notice my application and download it 4-5 times more often. In total, Samsung Apps for two months it downloaded 25,000 times, from Google Play only 6000.
Country Distribution
Google play

Samsung apps

As can be seen from the graph, the audience is very different. In the Samsung store, the main consumers are Brazil, India, Asian countries.
Smartphone models
Google play

It may be noted a large fragmentation. Samsung devices in total occupy 15-20%.
In its own Samsung store, of course, Samsung takes exactly 100%.
Android versions

You can see a large share of fresh Android 4. But while it’s impossible for developers to abandon old versions, because most users have 2.2 / 2.3.

Comments on Samsung Apps

As you can see, comments google store more informative. Someone needs improvements, someone points to bugs.
In the Samsung store, most of the comments are “cool”, “healthy” (according to Google Translate).
