Winners of the contest Ubuntu App Showdown have become known

Today , information was published about the applications that took the first three places in the competition Ubuntu App Showdown ( competition announcement on Habré ). They are:

Lightread is a lightweight client for Google Reader with support for offline work and integration with Unity tools.

Fogger is a tool for creating desktop applications from a web application running in a sandbox. Special JS API allows the application to interact with the system.

Picsaw is a game in which you collect a mosaic made from your photos.

')
The jury took a very long time to make a decision. The reason for this is the unexpectedly large number of applications sent to the contest (there were 143 of them). It was originally planned that the jury will decide on July 13.

It was probably difficult to choose the best apps. Despite the use of clear evaluation criteria listed in the rules, the impression of the winners is ambiguous. I will give one of the comments :
So, after a month's delay, HTML5 websites were announced as Ubuntu's “best applications.” Now you know for sure that Ubuntu is going the wrong way.

Significant promotion received only two contest applications - Fogger and Lightread, authored by Joey, who turned out to be the competition judge (by coincidence, of course). So the result was known from the very beginning.

It remains to add that three more winners will determine the community by voting in the Ubuntu Software Center. The authors of the three most popular applications will receive Nokia N9 phones. (Three of today's winners will not be counted here, they have already earned their prizes.) However, the remaining applicants are still under review and are not available for download from the Software Center, but perhaps this situation will change soon.
