Heart monitors sheep against wicked wolves

Imagine such an idyll.

A lonely Swiss shepherd leisurely strolls through the hills, exchanging SMS messages with his friends. And then he receives an SMS from one of the sheep.

And it's not about his stupid annoying girlfriend.



Recently (as an experiment), Swiss Kulibins equipped 10 sheep with heart monitors. And then they modeled the attack of the wolves on the herd (I would really like to look at it).

As a result of not weak stress, the pulse rate of the sheep increased from the usual 60-80 to 225 beats per minute.

So here. The experimenters hope to connect the monitors with a special device, which, when the pulse of the sheep increases, will send the shepherd SMS-ku (not only with the text “We've been freaked out!”).

A working prototype is planned to be released in 2013 and used in areas of Switzerland and France, where wolves naughty quite often.
