7 minutes of horror

Just now, remembering this, I went to Habr, hoping to see some more information about this, but, to my surprise, there is only one article, dated November!

And what about the subject itself?

Tomorrow (Aug. 6), at 9:20 am (inaccurate time), the autonomously-controlled Nasa vehicle, called Curiosity, will land on Mars.
Planting a device so far from the Earth is difficult because a person cannot interfere in the process, or rather, it can, but most likely, will be too late. From us to Mars, the radio signal goes 14 minutes.
Thus, it is not easy to sit on the planet correctly, with a very thin atmosphere and a huge layer of cosmic dust on the surface. Scientists had a task to plan this landing from the beginning to the end, and this is how they solved it:

Unlike the Pathfinder, Spirit or Opporunity missions, there will be much different here.
The main problem of Mars exploration is dust. Spirit, for example, was simply stuck in it and turned out to be incapacitated, Opportunity had to rely on storm winds to keep its panel accessible to the sun.
While Pathfinder, Spirit, and Opportunity landed on Mars, literally, with the help of cushioning balloons, Curiosity will use the largest parachute and support platform ever created, which will gently deliver the device on cables to the surface the planets.
Here you can see what else this mission stands out among others:

Set alarm clocks, if interested.
The broadcast will be here , the countdown on the site Nas

UPD here you can also see
AND THERE 3D simulation based on the data received from the device

POST-UPD I fell asleep early yesterday, although it’s not very peculiar to me, so I didn’t update the post with your links, now I fixed it

The device successfully primarisya!

Photos from the device will be available here.
