Today, the eldest model from the line of docking stations for Android phones Philips Fidelio came into my hands. The model is called AS851.

Characteristics:
- Power: 2x15 W
- Bluetooth profiles: A2DP, AVRCP, SPP
- FlexiDock for any MicroUSB phone
- Remote control
- Dimensions: 140 * 157 * 421 mm
Overview:
1) It reflects only the opinion of the author, and nothing more. If you think this is PR, then think further.
2) It may and certainly contains spelling, punctuation, grammar and other types of errors, including semantic ones. The author will be grateful for information about them (of course, in private, and even better with the help of
this wonderful extension ), but does not guarantee their elimination.
Cost:
According to the
Yandex market, prices for this docking station vary: from 6800 to 8000, or even 9500 in the company store)).
Cost: 5 points out of 10
In my opinion, a little expensive. Although analogs (comparable power audio systems capable of accepting a BT signal) are the Mobidick SuperTooth Disco, JBL On Beat Xtreme cost about the same.
Packing and packaging
Packed in a compact box, the size of a little more than the docking station. The inner coasters are made of recycled paper, which adversely affected the convenience - by pulling out, I blew paper dust from all the holes of the station, the power supply unit and the console for 10 minutes.
Unfortunately, the box was spoiled by PonyExpress, having pasted it almost completely with brand adhesive tape, so there will be no photos of the box. We turn immediately to the subject of the review:

Power Supply:

Powerful, with three and a half amps and a voltage of 18 volts (not all netbooks have this bp):

In addition to the euro plug,
BS 1363 is also included in the kit:

Which is indispensable for self-education. For example, it can be disassembled and find the fuse:

The package also contained a control panel - the joy of kinestics.

Heavy, comfortable lying in the hand, with comfortable buttons. I do not see much sense in it, but for the first two days I kept spinning it in my hands all the time, occasionally pressing a couple of buttons:

And jack3.5-jack3.5 cable, for connecting all other equipment that does not have BT.

The remote is good.

Appearance
After dusting off paper dust and stripping stickers:

We see this:

The inscriptions on the ass, perhaps, most accurately characterize our time:

Developed in the Netherlands, made in China.
On the back side:

In the reflection lit my knee.
Behind - two holes of phase inverters:

Power connector, audio input, usb-out (power only):

Special attention should be paid to the pride of Philips - the universal FlexiDock connector, which fits most phones.

The microUSB plug itself can rotate 360 degrees, the wheels on the sides adjust the racks on which the phone rises, and the whole structure drives back and forth and sways!
On the front panel are three buttons - power on, volume (+) and volume (-):

Interiors, khaki, fashion and maintainability
The first question is how to disassemble? No holes, screws, too. The only thing that clung to the eye - a sticker on the bottom and rubber feet there. We tear off the sticker. Nothing. We tear off the legs. Aha 8 screws. Turn off, but nothing happens.
Well, let's go on the other side. Remove the grill covering the speakers:

The first soldering point that you need to unsolder (or tear off, anyway then solder) - the earth wire will disturb you during the next disassembly operation. The cable from the plug is pulled out in the direction of the arrow:

Unscrew the 9 screws (marked in red). By the way, the blue IR receiver of the console and plugs for programming are marked:

Two more screws (red). Greens can not even touch - they attach the pad with the plug:

Rate constructive moving plug - "treadmill":

Carefully remove the front cover, turn off 7 connectors, and another soldering point (red):

All joints are taped to seal:

Two 8-ohm 15W speakers:

The board is fixed with 5 screws (the green one can not be unscrewed):

One side:

With another:

Traditional photo:

Separate BT module:

The back (phase inverter tube and a bit of padding as a damper):

Yes, the gum could not be torn off from the bottom - they fastened the weighting compounds (which are also glued), and did not affect the disassembly of the column.
Going all by itself, in reverse order.

Even though I remembered a couple of times with a kind word from Philips engineers, when I was disassembling the docking station, I have to admit that everything was assembled neatly and securely. Compared to China, there are many more screw connections.
Characteristics, sound
As the offsight aptly notes, "Fine tuned bass channels to play deep, dense bass." Bass is the first thing that catches the
eye when listening to the system. Although, an acquaintance who came to the light even liked it - “so small, but how it pumps,” he appreciated, turning the volume up to the maximum. Well, there are no problems with this - which player does not have an eucalyzer, slightly reduce the low frequencies, and you can listen without being distracted by booms and knocks on the battery from neighbors.
The sound quality is at a height that is ensured by the full support of the A2DP - BT profile, which allows transmitting the audio stream as a source file, and decode and process on the client’s “capacities”, in this case, the docking station. Due to the DAC and amplifier of a higher class than in the phone itself - the sound quality will be better than when connected via cable.
Of course, it is impossible to achieve a surround sound from two speakers at such a small distance - at a distance of a couple of meters you will hear both channels without any separation. But in this case, such a task was not set, it is a docking station, and not studio speakers.
The sound is clear, without wheezing at any volume level. The power margin is very high - at half the volume, the system allows you to hear music with acceptable detail within the whole apartment, and at the maximum it can sound a small party.
When turned on, the volume rises smoothly, which is very convenient and pleasant when listening to music, but sometimes causes discomfort when watching movies - the beginning of the phrase is chopped off.

Just a good sound, but in my opinion, overdo it with the bass. It is treated with an eucalyzer.

The sticker on the station tells about the application for Android, whose calling is to increase the convenience when working with it.
As I understood from offsite, the application from version 25 is no longer called Fidelio, but DockStudio. However, neither one nor the other refused to download on 5 of my Chinese phones, after which I had to ask for help from the hall.
For the same sufferers, like me, I post these programs: download
Philips Fidelio ,
Philips DockStudioThe application can not do anything special, it starts automatically when the phone is installed on the dock, it can show the clock, play Internet radio, or work as an alarm clock. Two interesting features are the ability to edit the pre-eucalyzer presets of the docking station itself (they are saved), and the firmware update. I did not notice the difference after the update, but it certainly is.
An interesting mechanism for pairing the station and the phone. There is no PIN-code, after the request the station cancels the pairing and “calls back” itself, requesting authorization without a code.
Did not like the fact that the station turns off after about 10 minutes of inactivity. She's plugged in, why turn off? Because of the fear that a cunning neighbor can connect to her with her phone and lose a wake-up at 4 am? so for this you need a pin code :)

Works. Here are some more settings ...
Summary:
Philips has created a very interesting niche product, which (unlike the AS351 and AS111) I would rather call as a sound system for a telephone than a docking station. In the next issue:
