As part of the epic lawsuit Apple vs Samsung voiced
several interesting facts that are not directly related to this process, but are interesting in themselves. These are renders of the first prototypes of the iPad tablet labeled iPod, information on profit margins on the iPad and iPhone, Apple's survey results on why they buy Apple equipment, etc.
But the most interesting is the story of how the first iPhone appeared.
As follows from a
report sued by Samsung, the design of the first iPhone was created under the influence of the idea proposed by Sony.
In February 2006, before announcing the initial design of the iPhone, one of the managers, Tony Fadell, sent a copy of the news article to Steve Jobs, Jonathan Yves and others. In this article, the Sony designer discussed the design of a mobile device, in which there are no buttons and other “excessive framing”, which conveniently lies in the hand, is a “rectangle with a screen” with “rounded corners”. Apple industrial designer Shin Nishibori created the CAD model for this description, and even put the Sony logo on it on the reverse side.

According to Nisibori, his design changed the direction of the iPhone project and led to the release of the device that we see today.
UPD 30.07. Apple has
submitted a Purple prototype to the court to prove that it did not borrow Sony’s ideas. In addition, there
were dozens of other prototypes .
