Window N70 Dual Core - a 7-inch tablet on the Rockchip RK3066 platform

Chinese tablet makers are moving massively to new platforms - Rockchip RK3066 and Amlogic 8726-MX.
Both chips are 2-core Cortex-A9 with a frequency of up to 1.6 GHz. The difference in the video system is the 4-core Mali 400MP4 in the RK3066 versus the 2-core Mali 400MP2 in the Amlogic 8726-MX.
The indicated frequencies in both cases are only of a marketing nature. In practice, all the tablets on these platforms demonstrate stable operation only at a frequency of up to 1.3 GHz.

After a not quite successful launch of 10.1 "Cube U30GT on RK3006, quality problems in the updated Novo 7 line from Ainol on Amlogic 8726-MX, Yuandao is entering the market with its tablets in sizes 7", 9.7 ", 10.1". Today we take a closer look at the 7-inch Window N70 Dual Core model.

From the core I want to highlight the 4-core Mali 400MP4, as well as a good battery with a capacity of 3700 mAh, which is also used by Ainol in the Novo 7 line. Memory of 1GB in size is already becoming standard in Chinese tablets. An excellent IPS-screen with a resolution of 1024x600 is also pleasing to the eye.

A very original decision to hide some interfaces under the cover. The strap, the durability of which does not inspire confidence, is mounted directly in the microSD slot, which creates some inconvenience for inserting / removing memory cards:

Working hours

The tablet has a capacious 3700 mAh battery. Measurements of work time were not conducted, based on reviews and personal experience, we can talk about 4-4.5 hours of work under load.
AntuTu Battery Test gave 396 points

Such a mediocre result is most likely associated with a charge indicator, which does not correctly display the real charge. The test stopped at a charge of 19%.

Charging time from 10% to 100% was a little over 3 hours.

To be honest, the appearance of Max Payne on Android really pleased me. Management though it seems at first unusual, but the atmosphere is the same as in the PC version.

Android 4.0.4 is installed, the goLauncher launcher is used. An update to Android 4.1 is planned soon (the older N90 Dual Core model has already received an update to Android 4.1, so it’s not long to wait)


The manufacturer often releases fresh firmware, which can be found on the official forum .

Upgrading firmware is simple:
1. Download RKBatchTool . Download the latest firmware from the Yuandao forum and unzip it.
2. Enable USB debugging in the tablet settings.
3. Start the RKBatchTool and connect the tablet to the computer while holding down the “volume +” button.
4. Install the driver from the folder RockusbDriver for the device found.
5. Select English in the RkTool program interfaces by clicking the first button below.
6. Select the file with the firmware (if you have files with hieroglyphs - be sure to rename the file!)
7. Press the button to update the firmware. Wait.

Bugs

Conclusions and prices

Yuandao has a very good tablet. Excellent IPS-screen, 1GB of RAM, dual-core Cortex-A9, 4-core graphics card - this is only half the advantages of the tablet. The second half is the price. I bought for $ 150 with delivery by Singapore post.
