The situation when the phone “sat down” is familiar to everyone, and all the friends have phones from other manufacturers. And charging, oddly enough, from Samsung, your colleague to your Nokia does not fit. Chaos, which was formed due to the appearance of numerous collections of cables and chargers for users, was designed to stop the OMTP forum which brought together all the major manufacturers of cellular telephones.
Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and LG have adopted a single standard for charging and interface cable connectors. It became, quite still young Micro-USB.
The new connector, which is even smaller than the now widely used Mini-USB, will replace its predecessor in portable devices. Note that this will positively affect the further miniaturization of portable equipment.
The Micro-USB specification provides support for USB On-The-Go (OTG) technology, which allows devices to communicate with each other directly without using a computer intermediary. And the implementation of OTG on the client side is not required. For example, you have a flash player with OTG support. Your friend can safely directly connect (if they have the same connectors) their flash drive without the OTG function to your device and transfer the desired melodies.

The Micro-USB series includes a Micro-B socket for conventional devices (without On-The-Go support), a Micro-AB socket for OTG devices, as well as Micro-A, Micro-B plugs and standard cables. As noted, Micro-USB connectors will be manufactured using stainless steel, which will provide a higher degree of durability (more than 10 thousand pairing cycles). There is also a passive latching mechanism that prevents accidental disconnection.

Portable devices with this standard are already being produced. For example, in the sale you can find another "top" phone from Nokia - Nokia 8600 Luna.
