Baidu opens up a blogger platform

China's largest search site Baidu.com plans to open a blogger platform, Chinese media reported . The service should become an analogue of popular Western services, such as MySpace , and even get a similar name: Baidu Space. Representatives of Baidu refused to provide the exact launch date for Baidu Space, but said it would happen “very soon.”

Leading Western Internet companies that are represented on the Chinese market - Microsoft , Google and Yahoo - have already opened blogging services in China. In a country that will soon come out on top in the world in terms of the number of Internet users, this niche is considered very promising. There are not only Western companies, but also dozens of local companies, including Bokee.com , Blogbus.com and BlogCN.com. The number of bloggers in China will exceed 60 million by the end of this year and 100 million in 2007.
