Clever waste bin from Japan picks it up on the fly
In some offices, aptly throwing garbage (for example, lumps of paper) is a way to kill time and show your own accuracy. Sometimes there are even competitions in accuracy, in which many workers participate. In some cases, mistakes are fraught with the need to break away from work, and go to pick up trash. Japanese inventors solved the problem by creating a “smart” waste basket. It looks like a regular bucket, but it is able to calculate the trajectory of a wad of paper or a can, picking it all up at the end of the “route”.
The Japanese inventor Modder FRP, who used Kinect to track the movement of objects in space, worked on the creation of the device. The developer wrote specialized software for tracking moving objects of a certain size. Of course, it is not the basket itself that analyzes the movement of garbage, it only receives information from computing devices via a wireless interface. ')
According to the Japanese, the system is still not working as accurately as he would like. But software and hardware are constantly being improved, so after a while we will be able to see a basket that can pick up trash with a high degree of accuracy. It would be nice to add the function “take out the garbage” and “wash yourself” to this device, agree.
The idea came to mind the Japanese after watching "Back to the Future", where they were shown about such devices.
