Plants form communication networks

From today, plants can no longer be considered as boring and passive living organisms. It turns out that they can communicate with each other through a physical connection over a local network. Settling in a single group, the plants form a homogeneous communication network with an efficient architecture. There are no confirmed facts of data transfer from view to view (a kind of Internet between different networks), but this is also quite possible.

The presence of traffic was detected in clover, strawberry, reed and elderberry networks. In these networks, very similar to computer networks, each individual plant periodically communicates with its neighbors. After long experiments, scientists still managed to decipher what kind of information they convey to each other. In particular, increased communication activity is detected if an enemy is detected near the plants. If one of the plants is attacked by a caterpillar, then the rest of the metabolism changes and more active production of protective chemicals begins and mechanical protection measures are taken. This reduces the damage to the group by an order of magnitude.

Interestingly, in the networks of plants occur viral epidemics. Since plants have a common root system, there are parasites that quickly infect the entire group at once.
