Google Vice President Marissa Mayer has become the new Yahoo CEO

Quite unexpected news appeared on the web just a couple of hours ago. Marissa Mayer, one of the vice-presidents of Google Inc., will become Yahoo's CEO in the near future (more precisely, it has already become today, on Tuesday, which is still tomorrow for some of us). Despite the fact that there is no confirmation from Yahoo, the New York Times journalists provided quite convincing information (including an interview with Mayer herself), which directly indicates that Mayer will indeed change jobs.

For Marissa Mayer, a new job is a good chance to show off as the top-level manager, not the head of one of the divisions of the corporation, even if it is a major one. Actually, Meyer has established herself as a very skillful leader, having gone from a simple Google engineer to one of the vice presidents.

According to the New York Times, Meier resigned from Google today (having done this very simply by making a call to the corporation, with a message about her dismissal). On Tuesday (for someone it's already today, for someone it's tomorrow) Mayer will take up new responsibilities at Yahoo. Among other things, Mayer will be one of the board members of Yahoo.

In an interview, Yahoo's new CEO reported that all 13 years of work at Google were amazing, but now she decided to go to work at Yahoo, a company she called "one of the best brands on the Internet." According to Mayer, when she first started working at Google, many people thought that Yahoo was the Internet (well, and some still believe that the Internet is “that icon on the screen”). So Mayer is happy to work now as the head of the company, which she still considers very important (even though Yahoo already no one confuses with the whole Network).
