Thermoelectric batteries for low-power gadgets

Lightweight, comfortable gadgets for athletes, tourists and travelers have long been part of the lives of many of us. Many amateur athletes and professionals can no longer do without all sorts of devices that track heart rate, calories burned, kilometers traveled, and so on. Such devices have one drawback - they need to be charged, along with smartphones, laptops and other equipment. But soon things can change.

Several companies are now actively working to create a reliable battery, a thermoelectric element. One of these companies is Perpetua, which has already created prototypes of such elements. All of this will work based on the difference in temperature between the environment and the human body.

Perpetua develops a battery that will be used not only in gadgets for athletes, but also in medical devices, devices for tourists, hunters and fishermen. This battery will be low-power, so that the same smartphone, for example, it does not charge. But gadgets are becoming more energy efficient, so that in the near future, more functional devices can work on the basis of such batteries.

As already mentioned, such a battery is very low-power, it can produce several microwatts or milliwatts of energy, which is enough for the work of low-power devices. The prototype of such a battery is still quite large, but it is only a demonstration device - real thermoelectric batteries will be much smaller.
