This is the Telstar satellite that NASA launched on July 10, 1962. 50 years ago, this sphere soared upwards and became the first satellite transmitting radio and TV signals. ')
And on July 12, the satellite transmitted a television signal across the Atlantic Ocean, from Andover Station in Maine to Plamer-Bodo, to a telecommunications hub located in the city of Brittany (France).
Telstar50.org mentions that the first images transmitted by satellite were the images of John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Yves Montand. The satellite also transmitted records of sports programs and it was through him that the first 400 telephone calls sent from space passed.
Telstar moved in low orbit (today we know that this is not the best choice for satellite television and telephone). He made a full turn in 2.5 hours.
The satellite’s existence was short - he worked for a year and a half. In November 1962, the onboard electronics were covered. But even these one and a half years were enough to change the story a little.
Who is somehow interested in the topic of space and the First Iron Works, and the rest - with the holiday, guys.
