
Speaking of LEDs, they usually imagine such a small plastic piece. It is possible that soon the diodes will look different - like a paper emitting light. Or cloth.
Swedish scientists published a paper in which they described how they managed to grow several LEDs on the surface of a sheet of paper. Perhaps the day is near when the sources of lighting in your room will be, say, curtains.

All this is made possible through the use of zinc oxide nanorods, which are applied to a thin layer of polydioctylfluorene (a conductive polymer).
Here is how Magnus Wilander, one of the scientists, describes the discovery:
- This is generally the first time in history when someone managed to create a working circuit of electronic and photonic inorganic semiconductors directly on paper, using chemical methods.
