CMS among the winners of the contest "Rating Runet-2011"

At the end of June, the Runet Rating portal announced the entire list, congratulated and awarded the winners of the contest of sites-2011, which started in January. All this time, first users, and then experts voted for the work they liked. At the awards ceremony, the organizers voiced the top three in each of the 27 nominations. The final list can be viewed at the link if one of you missed this event: http://www.ratingruneta.ru/awards/

But I want to tell you not quite about it. The other day, for the sake of interest, my colleagues and I considered what engines were in demand among the top three winners of the 2011 site contest. The results and observations that we made after today I submit to your judgment.

This diagram shows the CMS among the participants who took the whole podium:

The group “Others” includes (in alphabetical order): ABO.CMS, AstroCMS, diafanCMS, ModX, NG CMS, UMI.CMS, WordPress.

And below it shows how the forces were distributed only among the winners:

For data collection, we used the CMS definition service from iTrack .

Looking at the results, we found three interesting facts:

1. The share of unknowns to a wide range of CMS users is great: own developments or frameworks. Among the winners, this is not so acutely felt, and in the general list the advantage of unknown engines is overwhelming.
By the way, this year, for the first time, not only studio-developers, but also the clients themselves, were able to submit to the competition. Perhaps we are seeing a consequence of this innovation.
2. Interesting fact: MotoCMS manufacturer’s website runs WordPress.
3. As among all participants, and among the winners, the share of open-source systems developers known to a wide range of developers is very small. One example from WordPress, ModX and the Russian NG CMS.
