RFID Ring for London Underground

Nowadays, RFID technologies are not becoming increasingly common, no, they are becoming an integral part of our life. Sometimes tags are placed on the most unexpected things. It is not surprising that RFID has been used for a long time in all sorts of travel documents. In London, for example, the so-called London Oyster Card, which replaced paper tickets for many modes of transport, is common. But Londoners are not satisfied with just the cards, now many owners of the London Oyster Card are changing them for more convenient use.

A creative artist named Dhani Sutanto decided to create the most convenient thing for constant carrying with him. Such a thing, in his opinion, is a ring. And the RFID tag from his card migrated to the plastic ring. Fortunately, the process of extracting such a label from the map has already been described many times. The ring includes both the tag itself and the mini antenna. This whole system can be used to pay for travel, including in the subway of London.

It is clear that representatives of transport companies are against such modifications (although, what a difference, in fact, is that payment is made, it’s not for you to go through the turnstile using the same card). But the discontent of the officials does not stop anyone, and this little ring is a great example of the ingenuity of various craftsmen.

In general, the project is not the most difficult, but the author’s imagination allowed to turn an ordinary map into a techno-ring, which literally opens the way to its owner. It may well be that domestic craftsmen create something similar - technically, all this is realized without many hours of "gatherings" with a soldering iron, a breadboard and optical tools.
