Last month, a certain dillo2k10
claimed that its new top-end smartphone Samsung Galaxy S III, while in the car holder, exploded and caught fire ("... white fire, sparks and smoke") - photos of the device with obvious temperature damage were cited. As a kind of advertising, it was also mentioned that the smartphone continued to work, but without receiving a network signal.
After that, the Korean corporation, which recently
reported a record profit of $ 41.4 billion, launched an investigation into the incident, explaining that it was extremely responsible in providing users with the most secure and reliable devices - spontaneous combustion, and even more so, the explosion, were extraordinary cases that required serious proceedings. Samsung representatives contacted the affected user and got his smartphone at their disposal for technical expertise.
As an independent expert, the British company Fire Investigations UK was hired, carrying out cases of fires, explosions and the like related to temperature effects for insurance companies. The damaged smartphone was transferred to the experts, as well as a few wholes - to conduct a comprehensive investigation of possible fires.

The verdict was boring.
The official conclusion of independent experts determined the temperature effect caused by the ignition of the smartphone: "... the source of thermal energy that led to damage to the device was defined as external." In other words, the smartphone caught fire because it was set on fire - on purpose or by accident. At the same time, it was recognized that the damage occurred from the internal component of the Galaxy, and the antenna, which is a passive component and is not connected to the smartphone's battery, conducts microwave radiation well.
As noted, a little later, a user who promulgated a photo of a “burned-out” smartphone, admitted at one of the forums that his device had been in the water, and someone overdone trying to dry it:

Thus, it is possible to make a curious conclusion - careless treatment of a user with a large company’s top device along with Internet capabilities led to the fact that the Galaxy owner himself was to blame for the investigation of the incident, which led to Samsung’s rather significant financial expenses.
