In its official blog, Twitter announced an improvement to its search engine. The search has got the auto-completion of the query and the tab “People you follow” (“People you follow”) in the search results twitter.com.
Auto-completion of a query shows the most likely variant of the query as it is typed by the user, which is especially useful when searching for a particular hashtag or twitter account whose name is not known reliably. You can select the required query from the drop-down list instead of completing it completely.
There are also a number of other improvements:
Correction of grammar: if the search word is written with an error, the service will automatically show the results for the correct spelling variant.
Related Searches: If a query relates to a topic for which several different terms are used, collections with the most discussed relevant topics will be added to the search results. Thus, search results will seek to involve a wider range of users in discussions.
The search results by name will display not only the name of the user's Twitter account, but also his real user name.
Results from those you are reading: in addition to the “All” and “Top” tabs in the search results, you can filter tweets only from those people you follow on the corresponding tab. Another opportunity to search for current discussions. ')
These improvements will appear in full in the web interface of the service, and partially in the official Twitter applications for the iPhone and Android. As usual, the changes roll out gradually and the functions described are not yet turned on for all users.
