Google transfers GWT project management to an independent committee.

It seems that Google’s commitment to optimizing costs and closing non-core services reached GWT. A company engaged in the development of the toolkit since 2006 transferred the project into the hands of a certain “steering committee” consisting of developers interested in the further development of the project.

The list of companies, in addition to unnamed developers from the community, includes representatives of Sencha, Red Hat, Vaadin and some others. By the way, Google developers are also present in this list.

This turn of events is perceived in two ways: either the company actually wants to speed up and streamline the development of a rather slowly developing instrument, or it is a smooth departure in the direction of Dart. Given the current policy of Google, the second option may be more than real.
