Star Wars X-Wing Fighter Model Prepares for First Flight

Andy Vorner and his obsessive rocket friends built a 6-meter flying model of the X-Wing fighter with four solid-propellant rocket engines and folding wings in radio control (as well as built-in R2-D2). The launch will take place next week in California.



The model is made mostly of wood, except for the base of the wings, where the engines are mounted and where the axis of rotation of the folding wings. The creators of the fighter themselves little doubt the strength of their offspring ... but very much hope that it will not fall apart in flight.
