Rumors about an inexpensive mini-version of the
iPad have been around for a long time, but this time
Bloomberg writes about them. According to agency sources,
Apple plans to launch a tablet that will be smaller and cheaper than a regular
iPad by the end of the year in order to maintain dominance in the tablet market, while
Google and
Microsoft are preparing their similar devices.
The new model, reportedly, will have a screen with a diagonal from 7 to 8 inches, that is, smaller than the current 9.7-inch version. At the same time, the screen resolution will be the same as in
iPad 2 . The new tablet
Apple may submit in October.
Experts polled by Bloomberg say that an inexpensive
iPad could undermine the hopes of
Google ,
Microsoft and
Amazon to strengthen the tablet market: "That would be the worst nightmare of competitors." The price of the new device will probably be close to the price of the 7-inch
Google Nexus 7 and
Amazon Kindle Fire tablets, which cost $ 199 each.
